Global Neighbours
At Church Hill Juniors, we ensure children have opportunities to understand the need to value our world and all who live in it. Through our curriculum and Get Together planning, we broaden perspectives and challenge everyone to be concerned for the environment and changes in climate so demanding us to change the way we live and look after the planet. We realise that we are a small part, yet our actions can affect communities across the globe and we must take responsibility and care for our fellow citizens.
To this end, we use curriculum subjects to teach for example about ‘green’ energy, flooding and climate change, plastic pollution and fair trade. Many of these topics are also approached from a biblical perspective encouraging concern to care for the whole of God’s creation. Children complete value homework which links with this area of work as well as lobbying the government to change to benefit the world-wide koinonia.
