Church Hill C of E Junior School Hosts Exciting STEM Challenge Day!

Pupils at Church Hill C of E Junior School had a fantastic time putting their engineering skills to the test during a special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Day, organised by our science leader, Mrs Kite. The day was filled with creativity, teamwork and problem-solving as pupils embarked on an exciting bridge-building challenge.
Throughout the event, pupils learnt about different types of bridges and their unique structures. Working in teams, they carefully planned their designs before constructing their bridges using a selection of set materials. However, there was a twist – each material had a price, and teams had a limited budget to spend. This meant pupils had to think strategically, balancing cost with strength and stability.
After hours of designing and building, each class selected a winning team based on the best design and strongest structure. The challenge encouraged pupils to think like real engineers, making decisions about materials, design and construction techniques.
The event was attended by Chair of Governors, Steve Hardy, who praised the pupils for their ingenuity and teamwork.
The STEM Day was a huge success, sparking curiosity and creativity in our young learners. Well done to all the participants, and congratulations to the winners from each class!
